Join NZ Portrait Gallery Audience Engagement Coordinator Brianah Lee, and Inverlochy Art School tutor Stephanie Turgoose, on this four hour tour and printmaking workshop (Inclusive of a one hour tour, and three hour workshop).

This unique experience will begin at the New Zealand Portrait Gallery at 11am with a private tour presented by an expert guide of our latest exhibition, 'Autonomous Bodies: Figurative Portraits by New Zealand Women, Wāhine, Transgender and Non-Binary Artists'. This exhibition brings together a selection of leading and emerging female, transgender and non-binary artists from Aotearoa, such as Lisa Reihana, Yuki Kihara, Jacqueline Fahey, Jo Bragg and Holly Walker, whilst unpacking the importance of autonomy and representing unique lived experiences, which are often determined by gender and race. This exhibition is proudly intersectional-feminist and body positive, providing an uplifting and challenging encounter for all who visit!

Following a 50 minute tour at the NZ Portrait Gallery, attendees are free to grab lunch in the City, or walk to Inverlochy to have a packed lunch (not provided).

After lunch, attendees will begin their own creative works in response to the key themes of Autonomous Bodies in this fun workshop!

Inverlochy Art School tutor Stephanie Turgoose will teach attendees how to create black and white linocut portraiture prints with colour elements added using chine colle. This exciting workshop will also provide attendees with the opportunity to use the beautiful and historic printing press at Inverlochy Art School!

Attendees are encouraged to think about and/or bring along a portrait or self portrait, which they will recreate throughout the workshop.

Maximum of 8 attendees due to COVID level 2.
Please wear a mask upon arrival at both venues, and make sure to scan or sign in.
Please abide by necessary 2 metre distancing from other bubbles.
