These sessions are a hands-on technology-learning opportunity for young adults aged 14+ who are interested in understanding and using the Linux operating system.

There will be practical demonstrations and plenty of opportunities to try out things for yourselves and ask any questions that you may have. Among other things, during the course you will:

- Get a taste of different versions of Linux
- Learn how to install and upgrade Linux software and how to find and install new applications
- Be introduced to the command-line and get a taste of how you can tweak a system to make it suit your needs instead of having to be restricted by design choices that others have made for you
- Understand the origins of open-source software, how it works and why it is reliable
- Learn what an operating system is and how the various systems we use today appeared

Bring your own laptop and a USB stick. Let Eleni know if you don't have any...

Book your spot in this five-week course by contacting Richmond Library on 03 543 8500. There is space for 15 attendees. Payment can be organised directly with tutors Eleni and Rohit at eleni@mailbox.org.
