Blowout Comedy

Blowout Comedy is coming to New Plymouth!

This killer show is hosted by Scottish comedian Nathan Cross.

Based in Palmerston North Nathan recently won the Best Male Comedian award at The Comedy Hub's award ceremony. He's fast become a crowd fave in Palmy as well as earning the respect from his peers. Nathan has a high energy, intense performance style and razor sharp material that takes on Kiwi politics and loads more. He can perform short sharp jokes, interact hilariously with the audience and can also switch to longer-form comedic storytelling. Whatever comes out his mouth it's all infused with with his cynical but lovably cheeky outlook on life. He will guide you smoothly through a great night of comedy.

Headlining the show is Dan Brader. Brader is a NZ comedy veteran who’s developed a unique and controversial place in the Kiwi/Aus comedy landscapes as a one of a kind performer known for his brutally scathing gags and raw, confessional, eyebrow raising storytelling. He began his career in Australia in 2007 and has performed all over Australia (basing himself in Perth and Melbourne) and his home country of NZ in comedy clubs, festivals, open mic venues etc. If there’s a stage he’s probably performed on it. He's also done three solo tours of NZ. Brader is a fiercely independent and cerebral voice in the NZ/Aussie comedy landscape with a style that combines brutally funny observational and topical material, free wheeling, wildly raw storytelling, lacerating self deprecation, and moments of inspired off-the-cuff improvisation that can go anywhere, so much so they even take him by surprise. A true one of one. See him before he departs again for Australia in late 2021.

"Brader is a comic you will love or hate, but he's never dull."--New Zealand Theatre Review.

"Brader's unique comedic style set him apart."--The Southland Times

"In a comedy world that can be a bit ‘same-y’, Dan Brader dares to be different"--ARTSHUB

"Known for his morally-questionable storytelling, Dan has a way of making your own wild stories seem tame by comparison"-- Busselton Mail

"He walks his own line and drags the laughs out of it with a sharp shake."--Gagging For It

Supporting acts are Morgan Hunter Bell, Tommy Whitehouse (USA), Nathan Hedley and Kajun Campbell Brooking,
