The St Andrew’s Book Fair Saturday 7th August 9.00 am, is more than a collection of new and used books for sale. It’s a community event bringing book lovers together. There will be a wide selection and mix of genres on sale from novels, biographies, cookery books, fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, thriller, romance, contemporary etc.

Reading is a way to escape your own life and can take you to faraway lands, other times, and put you in other people’s shoes. The benefits of reading books are well-known:

- Books send us messages.
- Books teach us lessons.
- They open us to a huge understanding community.
- They are the best of friends.
- Books inspire us and make us believe in humanity.
- Books teach us empathy.
- Reading books sets an example for children.
- Reading helps you sleep better and reduces stress.

Through books we are given the chance to become another person, to meet and understand other people, and thus to imagine other more complexly. We are given the chance to experience things that we would either never experience or never want to experience! It is amazing that many typed words on a page can transport us. We can switch off from everything and not notice the time passing as we can almost experience other smells, sounds and sights and feel strong emotions for and about the characters with whom we travel for as long as it takes us to read a book!

There will also be a sales table offering sweets, baking and produce – the book fair and sales table is cash only.
