... let me see you dance, feel your warmth on my skin, let me know your presence... be close to me and I will follow...

In concert Lisa Tui and her band Toroa fill the Great Hall, suspend the hum drum of city life with rising tides of tones and texture, with singing saxophones, guitars and voices.

For the last 7 years Lisa has dedicated her focus, singing and musical skill to writing. In service of capturing the stories of those around her and in search of finding her own SONGWRITING voice, an alchemy of influences weave their way through her music and lyrics - te ao Maori, music theatre, jazz, funk, country, folk and pop.

Surrounded by accomplished and inspired musicians - Gary Easterbrook, Matt Davis, Mike Ferrar, Russell Stedman, Chris Searle, Mike Watts and Chantelle Rakich, the evening will be warm, varied and compelling.

A joyful, welcome to a new phase of connection for the New Year.

This event is part of Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre's Matariki 2021 programme, celebrating the Māori new year with ahunga nui (connection) through ngā toi (the arts).
