The Chinese New Year Zodiac Arts Trail seeks to map out the signs and animals of the Chinese zodiac through twelve original artworks by local Wellington and internationally-based artists in a walkable trail through Wellington’s CBD and waterfront.

Reflecting a contemporary Asian-Aotearoa New Zealand perspective, these new works will be created by a diverse group of artists with strong links to Asia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

Join a guide on a free walking tour of the trail, starting at New Zealand Portrait Gallery Te Pukenga Whakaata, and ending in Ghuznee St at the Seyip Association, talking through the stories behind the artist's works.

Attendees will also be able to enjoy the Chinese New Year Festival Street Parade as part of the Trail.

The walk is an easy 3.5km but we recommend that you wear comfortable footwear.

Please note spaces are limited to 30. Booking is essential.

A second trail has also been set up on 7 February and it will focus on the artists and their practice.

Supported by Asian Events Trust, Asia New Zealand Foundation & Wellington City Council
