Look, listen and make! Our new monthly art club is for tamariki 1-5 years old and their whanau. Enjoy storytime, messy play and lots of curiously good fun. Booking is advised or drop-in on the day!

Each session begins with a storytime from award-winning children’s publisher Gecko Press. Next get hands-on with messy play and create your own curious works of art! Each month we’ll have a themed making-activity often inspired by the Gecko Press stories we read. Art Club emphasises sensory play and creativity and is run by local artist Greta Menzies. Each session is in our education studio. It’s curiously good fun. Booking is essential. Supported by the Wright Family Foundation. Our storytellers for each session are kindly provided by the Wellington City Library.

June focus We will read I'm So Strong by Mario Ramos. We will then have fun with a special oil pastel painting technique and turn our small paintings into big paper twirlers! There will also be a ball pit for small ones to have sensory playtime.

July focus We will read I Want Spaghetti! by Stephanie Blake and then make some colourful spaghetti-inspired yarn drawings. For sensory play we will have some rainbow spaghetti!

August focus We will read Song of the River by Kimberly Andrews. Then we will make our own river shapes with bubble painting. Kinetic sand will also be out for our sensory play option.
