At 6 am, Sunday, March 7, the country, with the exception of Auckland, returned to Covid Level 1. And that definitely means the green flag on Saturday, March 13 for thundering V8 engines, roaring exhausts and adrenalin-pumping action at one of the most important meetings on the Heavy Trax Hire Central Motor Speedway calendar.

The Daryl Ainsley Memorial Meeting is as much as anything the opportunity to pay respects and celebrate the man who contributed so much of himself to Heavy Trax Hire Central Motor Speedway. Tragically, an accident took Daryl’s life on May 10, 2018 at age 52.

On the itinerary for Saturday, March 13, there’s squash, Highlands Go-Kart racing, pedal power sheep shearing and Le Mans start for grid positions.

Speedway action starts at 4pm with anticipated large fields across all classes... flame belching, snarling super saloons; low and wide V8 saloons; ‘winged demon’ 900 horsepower sprintcars (competing in 2020/21 King of Cromwell, Rnd 5), Commodore powered six shooters (aka wingless sprintcars), 'biff 'n bash stockcars, shrunk in the wash youth ministocks and zippy productions.

For added interest and to encourage inter-class camaraderie, competitors will be sorted into teams of 6 or 7.

Food concessions and a few surprises add up to a memorable family day out where if you are early enough, gates open at 2pm for parking around the track … one of only two or three speedway tracks country-wide able to offer this.

After the racing is over at around 9.30pm, fans are invited to the clubrooms where they can they can shake their booties to the high-octane live music of ‘Noise Complaint’.
