Auckland Performing Arts Academy's production of Disney's High School Musical ON STAGE!

Disney Channel's smash hit movie musical comes to life on the ASB Waterfront Theatre stage! Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extra-curricular activities.

High school cliques have never been so much fun!

The first day of school at East High: The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their tribes and reminisce about their holidays. Captain of the basketball team, Troy, is thrilled to find that the brainy Gabriella – a girl he met singing karaoke on a ski trip – has just enrolled at his school. However, when these star-crossed sweethearts decide to audition for the high school musical, their buddies aren’t happy that they’ve upset the “status quo.” Tensions flare and Troy and Gabriella’s burgeoning romance is put to the test. But if they can find a way through, their alliance might just open the door for others to shine.

Auckland Performing Arts Academy is Auckland’s premiere youth musical theatre company. Since launching in 2018, they’ve enchanted audiences with stunning productions of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, The Addams Family, and The Sound of Music. Their all-inclusive approach means they welcome all students, aged 7 to 21, to join and experience the magical world of musical theatre.

APAA’s industry professional tutors and creative team have guided these 110 talented youngsters over the past 5 months to ensure they shine on stage. The end result is a fun, upbeat production, filled with humour, catchy songs, and high-energy dance numbers. A show that promotes the importance of being true to yourself that the whole family can enjoy.
