Cheers to 50 years! Join us this summer for a day of celebration for the whole whānau.

Whether you’re keen to try your hand at something totally new, create a masterpiece of your very own or take a behind-the-scenes peek at some of the secrets in the museum, Dowse Birthday Bash will be bursting at the seams with fun!

Bring your lunch and join us for a picnic in Dowse Square at 12pm, then let loose on The Dowse and let your imagination run wild!

The day will feature spectacular performances from a host of party-starters, including the very funny Fun & Funner, starring actor & comedian Karen O’Leary (Wellington Paranormal, What We Do in the Shadows, The Breaker Upperers) and Tom Watson.

Inspired by current exhibition, Terminus, a choose-your-own VR adventure experience, join the game development team from Gamefroot to design and play your very own computer game! Bring along a trinket to be gilded in gold-leaf in Occupation Artist’s performance, All That Glitters, or step foot into The Dress Up Jam marquee to uncover your alter ego and express your theatrical spirit.

With selfie drawing, raranga weaving, puppetry, tours, dance and much, much more, Dowse Birthday Bash is not to be missed!

Mark the date in your calendar and check out our website as we add to the day’s programme.
