This year’s Dunedin Midwinter Carnival: A Moonlit Garden will light up Dunedin streets on the 26th of June 2021 with a beautiful display of lanterns and performances. Bringing lanterns, entertainers, food-trucks, market stalls, projections and a sprinkling of magic to the Octagon and George street this winter, this immensely popular event is one you won’t want to miss.
The Carnival Procession features over a thousand participants and hundreds of locally-crafted lanterns that reflect the flora, fauna, and community spirit of Dunedin during one of the longest nights of the year. Come and see curious and creative creatures come to life for one night only, enjoy food and crafts at the Carnival Night Market, as well as a large scale projection created for this year’s event.
The event takes place from 3 pm till 9 pm, with the procession beginning at 6 pm. Entry is by koha.
