Join playwright and journalist Julie Hill for a relaxed fireside listening party at The Arts Centre’s Great Hall for her new podcast FERNWEH.

German for "faraway-sickness", FERNWEH is a funny and thoughtful ode to making and losing connections in this strange modern age.

Recline on a bean bag and listen the beginnings of this new work and feel free to join in on an informal chat afterwards. Hill has written about New Age culture, the history of Karangahape Road and a classmate who became a famous white supremacist, among other subjects.

With some refreshments provided, we recommend you also enjoy hospitality at Cellar Door (bookings recommended) or the Bijou Bar at Lumiere Cinema before and/or after the event.

About the artist: Julie Hill is an accomplished playwright, essayist and documentary maker based in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland, who has written numerous essays for The Spinoff alongside other work. She is currently one of four artists in residence at The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora, as part of the Arts Four Creative Residency project, with funding support from Creative New Zealand and the Stout Trust, proudly managed by Perpetual Guardian.
