Come hear the kōrero behind Kiingi Tuheitia Portraiture Award Finalist Jamie Berry's mahi toi 'Wi Pere, A chief and a champion for his people', Saturday 24 July 1pm!

Jamie Berry is a multidisciplinary artist who creates large-scale multimedia artworks that explore Aotearoa histories while reflecting on identity and whakapapa.

Berry says of their tupuna Wi Pere: “Wi Pere was a great orator, a Politician. A chief and a champion for his people. I’ve placed my nephew Kruize (6th generation) in front of him, [representing] our future hopes for the next generation.”

See this work in person at the NZ Portrait Gallery as part of the Kiingi Tuheitia Portraiture Award, on until Sunday 15 August!
