FREE THE MIND
with Birgit Saunders

Happiness and suffering depend on the mind.

In these three weeks we will practise meditations that will help us to experience mental clarity and inner peace by meditating on the mind itself.

We will explore how meditating on our own mind offers us the ability to let go of stress and worry by enabling us to get a clearer, more dispassionate view of our own thoughts and feelings.

As a result we can begin to connect with our potential for deep stillness.

On the surface of a stormy ocean, there are waves and there can be a lot of turbulence.

But the deeper we go below the surface, the more still waters become regardless of the weather at the surface.

By looking deeply within our own mind, we can find similar stillness and refuge from the stress and chaos of our modern life.

Buddha teaches that the only real source of reliable happiness and inner peace is found within the mind.

By meditating deeply on the nature of the mind, we can begin to taste the stillness and clarity that lie within.

Derived from the Buddhist Mahamudra tradition these classes will introduce three simple meditations that help us to experience mental clarity and inner peace by meditating on our mind itself.

The first meditation lays the foundation for meditating on the mind by helping to temporarily overcome physical appearances. The second introduces us to the clarity of our mind, and the third is a meditation on our root mind. Together they lead us on a voyage of exploration of our mind through which we can discover our own inner potential for lasting peace and happiness.

Learn and practise these deeply relaxing meditations to break through the clouds of normal ways of thinking and experience the clear peaceful nature of the mind.
