After a break in 2020 we are back in 2021!

A conservation-themed family-friendly day that offers a wide range of activities and info stall at Promenade Point, Lake Taharoa, Kai Iwi Lakes. Come along for the day or stay at the campground and make a weekend of it.

Explore the crystal clear water at Lake Taharoa through a free guided snorkel experience from Experiencing Marine Reserves - gear hire included.

Practise your paddling skills with the Waka Ama from Te Hikuwai O Waka Ama Club!

Or come and visit one of the stalls and displays on land and take part in some activities and games.

Thanks to Kaipara District Council, Foundation North, Water Safety NZ and the support of many other organisations, the Open Day also gives you an insight into the rare biodiversity found in dune lakes!

Family-friendly activities at the Kai Iwi Lakes Open Day include:
- Guided day and night snorkelling (registrations for night snorkel essential via eventbrite)
- Waka Ama
- Water Safety activities and displays
- Biodiversity displays and information
- Interactive games
- Coffee and cold drinks for purchase

If you are staying for the night, join Experiencing Marine Reserves for their twilight or night snorkel - discover what the lake looks like after dark! Registrations for night snorkel essential via eventbrite - only 48 spots available!

In case of bad weather, we will postpone the day to the 21st March - keep a lookout on our website and Facebook page for announcements.

Please note that the Sport Northland Triathlon will take place at Pine Beach Campground.
