Publisher Kevin Chapman of Upstart Press will give an insight into the publishing process and answer any burning questions from the audience. Kevin will talk about different types of publishing, researching a publisher, the submission process and give aspiring writers some tips on what to do and what not to do.

Kevin has published books in a wide variety of genres and has a nose for a good story.
This is a unique opportunity to get practical advice and tips from an experienced publisher. It promises to be an interesting session for anyone looking to publish a book or anyone who is simply interested in the industry and how it works.

Kevin Chapman has worked in book publishing for over thirty years, in New Zealand, the UK, Canada, the US and Australia. He has worked in general trade publishing and book packaging, and prior to starting Upstart Press was Managing Director of Hachette NZ and Anne Geddes Publishing.

Kevin has been heavily involved in publishing industry activities for many years, including twice being a president of Publishers Association of NZ.

Before Kevin Chapman's workshop, the Queenstown Writers Festival will hold another workshop with Paul Cleave - Solving the Mystery of Crime Writing.

PLEASE NOTE: This event will go ahead in Level 2 with physical distancing and masks will be required to be worn during the workshop. If Alert Levels increase during this time, ticket holders will be contacted with either a postponement date or acknowledgement of a refund.
