In this 2.5 day workshop, you will learn the basics of 3D glass casting using a wax model for a template, which will be demonstrated.
You will create your own wax model and imbue it with 'negative' or 'positive relief', you will learn how to finish your wax model ready for investing stage. You will also learn how to invest your wax work using techniques specific to glass casting. On the Sunday, we will be investing your creations you have made in wax, steaming out and selecting the glass to fill the reservoir.
Your moulds will then be fired and you will return on the following Saturday to learn how to divest your mould and reveal your beautiful cast glass vessel.
Thereafter, you will learn the basics of coldworking and take your work home with you to complete any final stages, which will be discussed and demonstrated.
The workshops include up to 1kg of gaffer lead crystal glass to use, and any extra glass that is used will be charged accordingly.
