About New Zealand Sign Language
New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) is one of the three official languages in New Zealand which is used as a form of communication for approximately 400,000 New Zealanders that are deaf or hard of hearing.
NZSL is crucial to many people’s ability to communicate and participate in society. Like any other language, NZSL opens the doors to new cultures, people, and understandings. But with NZSL, you will also become a better listener, communicator, speller, and multitasker.
NZSL can be learnt for fun/interest, or for communicating with family/friends that are deaf or hard of hearing.
