This family-friendly creative workshop explores the health of the forest through art and discussion held inside Charlotte Graham’s installation Te Hā o Te Wao Nui a Tāne | The Breath of Tāne.

We hear from Dr Nick Waipara from Plant & Food Research about the impact on our forests of kauri dieback and myrtle rust, and Charlotte leads us in interacting with her installation through text and drawing, questions and answers.

Auckland-based Charlotte Graham (Ngati Mahuta, Ngai Tai, Ngati Tamaoho) is of Scottish and Waikato descent. From a generation of Māori artists who draw on their tribal heritage to explore critical issues affecting New Zealand society, such as racism, indigeneity and land rights, her recent work explores notions of politics and healing.

Presented in association with Toi Taiao Whakatairanga, a three-year research collaboration by a cross-cultural and multi-disciplinary research team, the project is part of Mobilising for Action, supported by The National Science Challenge, Ngā Rakau Taketake.
