You are invited to the regularly monthly concert night for Levin Folk Music Club on the 2nd Friday. Doors open at 7:00 pm with concerts beginning at 7:30 pm for a one hour set. After the supper break, there will be an open mic of one song each from regulars and visitors. Newcomers are always welcome! Dress warmly though as the Club is undergoing refreshment and curtains are on order. Tea/coffee and supper are provided.
Concert night featuring Nicola Hooker who covers a variety of songs from different genres and takes her inspiration from artists such as Gillian Welch, Amos Lee and Elton John. Joining her for a portion of the concert will be two fellow Eagals, Jude Madill and Jo Sheffield.
Nicky says: I started singing and playing the piano at age 10 and took the guitar, ukulele and drums later in life. I enjoy teaching music just as much as playing it and have been teaching in primary schools for about a decade. I am currently in my final year of a Music degree at Victoria University but still teach part-time.
I have played in bands in Palmerston North, (Ben and the Believers, Ruahine Rangers, Ukebox) and recently joined the all woman, folk-style Eagles tribute band The Eagals. I have also been a part of the female acapella choir “The Shicka Chickas” for the last two years in Wellington.
