Wellington's favourite offbeat game development conference is back! For real this time.
Play by Play is a New Zealand games conference with a difference, where we provide attendees with a curated smorgasbord of eclectic content, bespoke knowledge and oft unexplored realms of our craft.
Our 2020 festival was tragically postponed due to COVID-19, but the good news is that we're back for 2021 and more excited than ever before to share with you all.
For 2021, we'll be bringing forward our planned 2020 theme: Bigger than we know.
While this theme felt relevant when we first decided on it, it's even more poignant now. We're a relatively small industry that punches above its weight, and the impact of COVID-19 has really highlighted how important it is for us to act as a community, support one another, and understand that each and every one of us is bigger than we know.

Event Details
- The conference runs from 9 am to 4:30pm, Friday 23 April and Saturday 24 April.
- This is a single stream conference, meaning there's just one programme to follow.
- An all-access pass gives you entry to the Treat 'n' Greet networking event and the NZ game awards night, the Pavs.
- While not age-restricted, some themes discussed may not be suitable for children.
