The Classic present the Open L8 : Raw Comedy Slam 2021

Every Saturday at 10:30pm in the 2021 NZ Comedy Festival , the home of live comedy goes D.I.Y. with an open mic for all-comers. Yes YOU!

Each Saturday night our guest Pro MC introduces up to 16 rookies in a fast paced action packed comedy battle. Can you become a Pro Comedian in just 3 weeks?

At the end of the Fest The Boss will be choosing one act to go ‘next level’ plus every Saturday night our panel of 'experts' will be picking winners including ;

The ‘People’s Choice’ - best act of the night based on the audience reaction

The ‘Best Bit’ - the most original show stopping bit of comedy - not necessarily the whole routine.

The ‘Best Song’ - funniest, most entertaining song of the night.

The Classic Tech’s 'Pick of the Night’ - might not be the people's choice. It might not be the judges choice. But The Classic Tech sees more comedy than anyone else in NZ so we are giving them a say in the matter.

The MC's 'Audience Faves' - Even the audience will win prizes just for being good sports. Cash, Bar Tabs & Tickets to Laugh to be won. Our MC will decide.

Only open to genuine rookies. No pro’s, no ring-ins.

Just 3 nights only - May 8th, 15th and 22nd.

Door sales are only available on the night of the show after 6pm.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the advertised show start time. Please note that this show may be subject to lockout. If so, you will not be able to enter the venue after the start time.

The Law: The Classic is a licensed premise ('Supervised 18+) requiring all minors (under 18) to be accompanied by THEIR parent at all times.
Anyone looking under 25 will be asked for ID in the form of : NZ Driver's License, Passport or HNZ 18+ Card only.
Shows have an age restriction of at least 14 years old accompanied by their parent.
Entry will not be granted to unaccompanied minors, those without ID or intoxicated persons.
