The Pointon Collection of Cars & Costume shows original clothing labelled "Made in New Zealand" 1950-1965. Although most women sewed their own & their families clothes, there were special occasions when 'shop bought' was considered more appropriate.

Not all labels were designer labels, the chain stores (Woolworths & McKenzies) had their own labels too. Designer labels were sold in specialty womenswear shops and smart Department Stores. This display shows a range of labels from the chain store, to small manufacturing companies to top designers. From the 2 piece costume to the cocktail dress. From "Roydon" to "El Jay". All shown with the appropriate accessories, all made in New Zealand.

Take a nostalgic trip back to the days when we proudly wore "Made in New Zealand". The men haven't been forgotten, with a small range of menswear and of course that vast range of automobilia, garage gear and cars.

We are open most days from 10 am to 4 pm, ring Gaye to check. Charges do apply - no Eftpos. This display continues until Sunday 1st August.
