Amokura Glass

Try your hand and shaping molten glass into a paperweight!

The techniques required to make a paperweight have been around for thousands of years. This workshop offers an exciting glimpse into the world of glass blowing.

Paperweights are the first creation every glass artist makes. They are fun, colourful and a great way to remember your experience.

Our 40min workshop starts with choosing your colours (we have 10 colours to choose from) and we run you through the tools you will be using to make your paperweight.

Then comes the 20-minute hot shop experience. Here you work one on one with the glass art instructor to make your paperweight. You will get to add up to three colours to the glass.

With your colours added, you will then learn to manipulate the glass to create one of six designs and shape the outside of the glass to make the final form of the paperweight.

After your creation has cooled down overnight, you can take it home as a memento or gift for someone special.

Requirements:

-Must be 14 yrs or older.

-Must be in good physical health, and able to hear and see well.

-Must wear close-toed shoes, long pants, and a shirt made of natural fibers (aka, cotton, wool, linen) during the lesson.

-Must book at least a day in advance.
