Pirongia Trail Run 2021

Welcome to the Waikato's community trail run! The Pirongia Trail Run has a challenge for all ages and abilities; if you're after a nature walk with family, we've got you. If you're after some thigh-burning vertical gain, we've got you. If you're after NZ's toughest sub-marathon trail run, we've also got you!

The PTR is all about connecting the community with the outdoors and each other. It highlights the beautiful landscapes of the Waikato and Waipa regions, the cultural and environmental significance of Pirongia maunga, and the positive benefits* of being active in the outdoors.

The event features four distance options to battle through:
3km | The Runter | Family and youth fun run
8km | The Punter | Out-and-back trail walk/run
13.5km | The Grunter | Technical trail run
36.4km | The Munter | Gnarly adventure run

*Benefits include, excessive sweating, pain, loss of breath, more pain, fun.
