A fresh and popular innovation in 2020, we again bring you a Poetry Slam, led by Wanaka’s Liz Breslin and Queenstown’s Tessa McTaggart. We are calling Performance Poets from near and far to compete in this regional competition, the winner of which will represent the region at the National Slam in Christchurch in November, with financial assistance.
A Poetry Slam is a competition arts event in which poets perform spoken word poetry before a live audience and a panel of judges, selected randomly from the audience. It’s high energy entertainment, and poetry like you have never heard it. To compete, just turn up with three poems, ready to put them down.
