Māori poet, actor, and slam poet award winner, Te Kahu Rolleston, returns to Featherston Booktown because he is so well-loved here!

In his poetry, Te Kahu speaks to what it means to be Māori, combining mythology, history, and modern politics choosing to educate and inspire his audience.

Te Kahu says “there are a lot of people who think that poetry is soft but once they see my poetry, they realize that’s not always the case and you see the shift from ‘not interested’ to ‘I want to do that’ almost immediately.”

In this workshop, held at the St John’s Church Hall, Te Kahu will teach young and old methods to realize their poetic vision. Workshop participants will enjoy free kai at the end.

Thanks to our funding partners, the workshop and kai are free, but for catering purposes, you must book your ticket online to be sure of a place and kai.
