Jack has a problem. His mother, Marlene, wants to hold onto everything and blames Jack for the mess she has made. Worse still, he does not know if his best friend Sarj has his back or is he just there for the rice crackers? Marlene is a hoarder and a notorious one at that. She has managed to fill her entire house with every random object, loose odd and stray end imaginable but as far as Jack is concerned, it has all got to go.

Presented as part of the 2021 Auckland Fringe Festival, ‘Swallow the Fly’ tells the story of a young man disconnected from his family, trying to repair the literal damage his mother has wrought on the family home, all the while neglecting to realise the even greater threat that is building within.

Both equal parts hilarious and deeply moving ‘Swallow the Fly’ has been described by audiences as extremely personal and exceptionally poignant. A cracking piece of fresh New Zealand Theatre and one show this Fringe season that is not to be missed!

About the Venue:
Garnet Station Tiny Theatre is an awesome space for new and exciting work. Located in the relaxed and breezy suburb of Westmere, there's plenty of nearby street parking available, as well as a wide selection of food and drinks at Garnet Station itself. The venue is wheelchair accessible and Swallow the Fly's 4pm matinée on the 20th is perfect for those wanting to grab a bite before or after the show.
