Kawakawa from Design to Tapestry Weave
Take your artistic abilities to the next level, under the of guidance of master weaver Marilyn Rea-Menzies you will gain a rich experience and a deeper understanding of the possibilities of Tapestry Weaving.
The beautiful shaped NZ leaf Kawakawa will be the inspiration for this workshop. Marilyn will guide you through the process of interpreting your individual design and ideas into a small tapestry or series of tapestries. The workshop includes mastering the techniques of building shapes through hatching and colour blending to gain effects unique to tapestry.
This two-day workshop commences with warping on a tapestry frame loom, through to completing the piece inspired by your design. Everyone will work at their own level and pace. A small frame will be provided along with a glorious selection of colourful yarns.
All materials will be supplied though you are welcome to supplement with your favourite personal fine yarns. $10 small materials fee.
This course is open to weavers at all levels including beginners. The following weekend workshop NZ Bush Textures is an extension of skills learnt in this workshop for further exploration and to extend your skills.
