A workshop for young writers.
A workshop for young writers aged 16 and above. In this two-hour event, young writers will explore the Mīharo Wonder exhibition, learn about Katherine Mansfield and her ground-breaking approach to short fiction, and try their hand at writing as a response to place.

This event is presented in partnership with Katherine Mansfield House and Garden.
Learn how to capture places with words.
Fiction writer Nicole Phillipson will teach you about a keystone to great fiction — the art of sensory detail; discuss why Mansfield was considered such an innovative short story writer; and guide you through some short writing exercises with the theme of “capturing places with words”.

You will leave the workshop with a brand-new writing toolset and some fresh material for future projects. No previous creative writing experience required.

Spots are limited so book now by emailing events.natlib@dia.govt.nz.
