The Wellington Summer Sampler will be two months of roving performance, pop-ups, activations, and publicly accessible spectacles happening within the COVID safety guidelines every weekend along the waterfront. These performances are run by Spark & Flare.

Sat, January 15
Since graduating from Circus School, Rama Tapp has performed across NZ, toured with Circus Aotearoa, and is a regular feature on several festival stages. One of the country’s most skilled performers with one of juggling’s most difficult props, he’s bringing his cigar box street show to Wellington audiences.

Banana Jolie is a powerhouse pun queen and princess of peel. Seen ripping up stages across the Antipodean festival circuit with her energetic, witty comedy cabaret. Banana Jolie shows and acts feature dance, comedy, and music.

Jenni Reika is a UK-born artist currently based in Wellington. She creates everything from cute, colourful polymer clay gifts, to striking and provocative art pieces. Jenni's favourite medium is body paint, and she loves any excuse to take body art out to the public to entertain and inspire.

Frank Kitt’s Ampitheatre
Join us at the Frank Kitts Ampitheatre as the sun goes down, and the night lights up. Wellington Firebenders are bringing you a showcase of Pōneke’s professional fire artists.

11am-12pm - Odlin Plaza
Sugarfoot Stomp aim to make swing dancing fun and accessible, through classes, social dancing, and one off workshops to get people up and moving. If you’d like a taster join them in Odlin’s plaza for a free class with live music from the Lauren Armstrong Trio.

2-4pm
Matthias Goed delivers an action-packed show full of mad skills. His skills include juggling, whip cracking, manipulation, and audience participation.

Sun, January 23
1-2pm -Te Papa
Pūtanga // Emergence draws on the legend of the atua of moths and music, Hineraukatauri, featuring the pūtōrino; a flute that resembles her cocoon.

Ruby Solly is a force to be reckoned with. Poet, composer, scriptwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and ngā taonga puoro artist, Ruby is as prolific as she is talented. Bjorn Aslund is a queer dancer, choreographer, and nationally recognized cabaret performer.

These two creative powerhouses will be joining together to present a live collaboration of sound and movement.

10am-12pm
India and her troupe of talented tappers are bringing Broadway to the waterfront. Expect an explosion of peppy percussion in these vintage-inspired vignettes.

Laura Loach is an award-winning opera singer and all-round stage creature who dabbles in acting, directing and drag. She also performs as one-fourth of the Wellington vocal quartet, Quadraphonic.
