WRITERS AGAINST NATIONAL LIBRARY DISPOSAL OF 600,000 BOOKS.

Free public readings are happening on November 11th, at 7pm, at St Peter’s Church. Entry is free/koha.

The event is happening because the writers are afraid that in a few weeks, 600,000 volumes of research and poetry, books about music and history, philosophy, history, gender, ecology, EVERYTHING… are going to be given away overseas, valued at $0.

Most of the books will then be sold by the private organisation receiving them in Manila.

You love books, and we all love books. The real book is an experience of the senses. And these books are SPECIAL. 100s of thousands of them. If we let these books be thrown away, the hard work of thoughtful librarians, all their acquisitions and care over the past century will be undone.

The readings are happening in the church itself, 350 seats, so there is plenty of room for correct spacing.

An A5 anthology with these readers in it, "The Ultimate Reader of Love for the Book", will be out soon, for free in hundreds of cafés through the country. You'll be able to say you heard its readers "LIVE". Don't miss out.

See you at St Peter's on November 11th for some serious fun.
