High above Auckland, the church of St Matthew-in-the-City bells ring out over the noise of the city.
Originally installed in 1905, they fell silent after World War II. They were refurbished in the late 1960s and re-blessed and reinstalled in 1972.
This year marks 50 years of the St Matthew Society of Bellringers and continuous ringing.
Join us to learn about the people who made it possible, the taonga we hold and share with the city and the ancient art of bellringing (also known as campanology).
In our open day as part of the Auckland Heritage Festival, all of our tours sold out, so this is a special follow-up tour for people who missed out.
