Join us in the hills of Island Bay at tranquil Our Lady’s Home of Compassion in the lead-up to advent, to explore the connection between the advent story and our relationship with God. As Mother Mary carried and bore her son Jesus, so do we bring our spirituality into being.
Advent is a time to reflect on the nativity story and how it mirrors and reflects our own lives. As the year winds to a close, take a moment to join us and reflect on how this iconic story is woven through our lives in a two-day spiritual retreat with Joy Cowley and John O’Connor.
Participants are welcome to join a select day or both. The themes from the days are as follows:
Day One: We see the Christmas story as a parable related to our own lives. Men and women alike become pregnant with God.
Day Two: Discernment. Three areas of spiritual discernment that help to give birth to Christ in the world.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a packed lunch with them, as well as a pen and paper for taking notes. The registration cost is $40 a day or $60 for two days, with all proceeds going towards the work of the Sisters of Compassion.
