Enjoy traditional Japanese storytelling and music with a Rakugo and Shamisen performance at the Central City Library.

Experience a form of unique cultural storytelling with a Rakugo performance. Rakugo is a traditional art form of storytelling in Japan with a history of over 400 years, covering comedies, tragedies, and mysterious ghost stories. For this special night, inspired by HYAKUMONOGATARI (One Hundred Ghost Stories), local performer Kanariya Eishi will conduct a specially curated Kaidan (ghost story) in English here at Central City Library.

Professional Tsugaru Shamisen musician Sayuri will accompany with an intense and exuberant style of playing. The Tsugaru Shamisen is known for its dynamic and improvisational focused sound and will add texture to an already outstanding performance.

The collaboration of Rakugo and Shamisen creates a truly unmatched and eerie evening you don’t want to miss. Central City Library is proud to host this performance as a part of the Yokai Parade Exhibition events.
This event is supported by the City Centre targeted rate.
