Animal Blessing Service

Guess what is happening at the Cathedral next Saturday: yes, our Animal Blessing service!
Show your love and appreciation for your pet and all animals, great and small, by joining us at our annual Animal Blessing service in the Cathedral at 10am on Saturday 1 October 2022. Unite with families and creatures great and small for the special opportunity to have your pets blessed. This service falls on the closest date to the Feast of St Francis of Assisi and we welcome all creatures into the Cathedral on this day.
All pets are welcome – whether it is dogs, horses and donkeys on leads, cats in carriers, or birds and other small critters in cages. Candles can also be lit in memory of animals that have passed.
This event is free and open to all ages and held in collaboration with the SPCA. We will also be visited by the Wellington Zoo and Cats Protection Wellington.
Please note: There will be a lot of animals, people and noise at this blessing. If your animal is not comfortable in this type of situation you may decide it is best to leave them at home. Instead, please bring a photo of your pet to have blessed.
