Cartooning with Alan MacDonald

Suitable for beginners and intermediates desirous of fellowshipping, this class will cover cartoon character creation, background drafting, inking and caption writing. Four categories will be covered being:

Humour - Just for fun

Journalistic - Covering topics of the day or internal politics for an inhouse newsletter

Educational - Cartoons for explanatory purposes, for example medical procedures to lessen concern

Celebrations - For recording a family, business, club events or bespoke greeting cards

After a 30 year career as a graphic designer, illustrator and cartoonist, tutor Alan MacDonald spent 10 years as a tertiary mentor. Alan has turned his line drawing skills into an art form that has been published overseas. But it is his cartoon skills he is keen to share at Mairangi Arts.
