Join us to hear a conversation between two of Aotearoa’s leading contemporary artists, Elizabeth Thomson and Dame Robin White, and celebrated writer, poet and art curator, Gregory O'Brien, about Elizabeth’s exhibition Cellular Memory.

Born in Auckland in 1955, Liz is one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading contemporary artists with a career spanning more than 30 years. A conceptual and interdisciplinary artist, Liz creates works which span a range of media, including painting, printmaking, photography, and sculpture. Her works are included in major public collections throughout New Zealand

Matamata-born Greg is a prolific poet, writer, artist and curator. He was made an Arts Foundation Laureate and won the Prime Minister’s Award for Literary Achievement in 2012, and in 2017 became a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit and received an honorary doctorate from Victoria University of Wellington. He has exhibited widely as a painter and printmaker.

For this lively, informal discussion, Liz and Greg will be joined by one of Aotearoa's foremost visual artists, Dame Robin White. Robin's major retrospective Something is happening here currently on at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and is accompanied by a major publication. Robin has travelled and worked alongside Liz, both in Aotearoa and across the greater Pacific region.
