CJC is proud to present New York based guitarist Quentin Angus for his first ever NZ concert.

Guitarist/composer Quentin Angus released his 4th critically acclaimed album, "The State of Things", on March 18th 2022, with record label Outside In Music (Featuring Nate Smith [drums] and Michael Mayo [voice]).

The recording reflects Angus’ life experiences, including becoming a father, embarking on a Professorship (at the City University of New York), the challenges and rewards of living and working in NYC, observing the political, social and environmental turmoil of America and beyond, and much more.

The State of Things is a cohesive book of music, utilising elements of rock, pop and R&B, and after a tour of Australia, Angus will come to New Zealand for his debut performance in the country. He will be joined by NZ heavyweights Ron Samsom and Cameron McArthur and will present trio arrangements of originals from the album, arrangements of standards and more.

Angus is one of Australia's brightest stars on the International Jazz Scene" - ABC Jazz (Australia)

“One of my favourite albums to date so far! A selection of beautiful original compositions, outside of the box arrangements of jazz standards and a stellar band” - Ruth Fisher (Jazz FM, UK)

“A force on the scene in New York. The crisp clarity of his playing on The State of Things, along with the cohesion of the group he has assembled, speaks volumes.” - Nate Chinen (WBGO/New York Times)
