Seed: The Untold Story (2016)
Directed by Taggart Siegel & Jon Betz

Few things on Earth are as miraculous and vital as seeds. Worshipped and treasured since the dawn of humankind, these subtle flecks of life are the source of all existence. Like tiny time capsules, they contain the songs, sustenance, memories, and medicines of entire cultures. They feed us, clothe us, and provide the raw materials for our everyday lives. In a very real sense, they are life itself.
Our once abundant seed diversity has been drastically winnowed down to a handful of mass-produced varieties. Industrial “progress” and a lust for profit has seen the growth over the last century of mechanised agribusinesses sowing genetically identical crops on a monstrous scale.

As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing and heartening story, these reluctant heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds.
