Dunedin Fringe

The Dunedin Fringe festival – the world’s southernmost fringe festival and one of the country’s leading Fringe events – returns 17-27 March 2022 for another packed programme!

Since 2000, the festival has promoted an eclectic blend of established and emerging artists pioneering the contemporary performing arts scene worldwide. This year’s programme of over 70 different acts merges a multitude of different artistic genres across 11 days of events.

Over 27,000 people attended the 2021 Dunedin Fringe Festival which took place in venues across the city, including the Wall St Mall toilets, the Gasworks Museum, and pop up street art on Dunedin’s cycleways.

The Fringe regularly sets the stage for new work, giving audiences the chance to be the first to see new shows from established artists and to discover new talent. With visual art, performance, comedy, dance, music, spoken word and more, the Dunedin Fringe Festival offers something for everyone!

2022 sees the return of the Late Night Line Up, a not-to-be-missed event series, combining the programme’s best comedic wit and musical talent, every Thursday-Saturday of the festival in our very own Emerson’s Festival Theatre in Central Dunedin.

The full programme will be available in print and online from February 14. Keep an eye on the website, Facebook page (@DunedinFringe), Instagram (@DunedinFringe) or sign up to our newsletter through our website for updates.
