Shan Liu is 12 years old.
He began studying piano in China before his 8th birthday and is currently studying in Auckland with Stephen De Pledge of the Auckland University School of Music.
Shan has enjoyed many local, national and international competition successes, including 1st prizes at the 2018 Shanghai International Youth Piano Competition, the 2020 Cesar Franck International Piano Competition (Belgium), the 2020 Kings Peak International Piano Competition (USA) and the 2020 NZ Young Artist Piano Concerto Competition He was the youngest ever finalist at the 2020 New Zealand National Junior Piano Competition. Shan has performed in the Auckland Town Hall and the Sydney Opera House and in 2019 was awarded a full scholarship to participate in a masterclass with Professor. Manfred Fock at the Nubeck National Conservatory of Music, Germany.

This concert is part of the St Matthews Chamber Orchestra (SMCO) 2022 Concert Series.
