Community event showcasing sport & recreational activites in the Upper Clutha.

Back by popular demand, a celebration of Wanaka’s sport and activities will be held this year on 24th September. The Festival of Sport & Recreation, an initiative of the Upper Clutha Sports Community Trust, is a chance to celebrate all things active and inclusive. This usually annual event was postponed in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid but will return this year with vigour to showcase the myriad of options offered in our region. It is a fun chance to find out more about what is offered locally, and to celebrate the clubs, organisations and supporting businesses which help bind our community together.

Around 50 groups are expected to showcase their activities and offerings with displays and have-a-go activities. Their members will also be on hand to give information about their activities and how to get involved. A crowd favourite, the ‘Dye Dash’, will be coordinated by Kahu Youth and many other participation options are offered for both adults and children.
