How did public vandalism evolve into the latest art movement?

Dunedin’s street art is world-renowned, with incredible artworks by significant local and international artists tucked around every corner. Highlighted by our city's unique walking trail, this popular art form celebrates creativity and diversity, tying in the past and future, as well as the architecture and ecology of Dunedin.

In this public talk, hear from artist Bruce Mahalski how graffiti has evolved into street art, and how the art form has grown and developed internationally. Bruce will showcase images of street art projects from around the world and within Dunedin, detailing the creative and practical processes involved in their creation. He has several of his own artworks on display in Dunedin and further afield that take inspiration from natural science and local ecology.

Bruce has also worked with the Wellington City Council and Phantom Bill Stickers to create opportunities for both local and international street artists to work in New Zealand.
