Huinga Waka: A Gathering of Waka
He mahi nui te tārai, te whakatere me te hoe waka, ā, me whai mātauranga, me whai pūkenga, me whai ringa raupā hoki te katoa. Mā te mahi tahi ka ea te rere o te waka ki uta, ki tai hoki. I te aranga mai o te rā whakanui o Waitangi, kua whakahoa mātou ki a Ngā Taonga Whitiāhua me ngā taonga kōrero i te whakaaturanga Waitangi: Huinga Waka.
Carving, launching and paddling a waka is a huge cooperative undertaking – requiring the knowledge, skill and labour of many people. Only by working together can the waka succeed.
As we head to Waitangi Day commemorations, we’re pleased to partner with Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision for Huinga Waka: A Gathering of Waka.

Ko Ngā Taonga te pūranga ataata-rongo o Aotearoa. Ko ā mātou mahi, he whakaora, he manaaki hoki i ngā kōrero, ngā auahatanga, ngā hītori o Aotearoa kei ngā taonga ataata-rongo. E pūmau ana mātou ki ngā tikanga – hono tiaki, manawanui. Nā runga i aua tikanga, ko tā mātou kaupapa he pupuri, he manaaki i ngā taonga ataata-rongo o te motu, he tiaki, kia tuku ai ki te iwi whānui tonu.
