The HUNTER CIVIL 10-Hour Day/Nighter & 6 Hour Blast is Canterbury's largest mountain bike race and celebrates it's 16th year in 2022.

It's one race you do not want to miss out on - approx. 1200 riders enjoying 10 and 6 hours of non-stop mountain bike action. This event combines riders of all levels racing together... you can race as hard as you want, be competitive or just be relaxed - it's entirely up to you.

When you're not racing, you'll be hanging out at your team site - spectators and supporters are welcome and they can be on your team site right amongst the action so make sure you bring along your friends and family to enjoy the day with you.

This event is as well known for its friendly social atmosphere as it is for the racing so expect to meet other enthusiastic mountain bikers and you're bound to catch up with someone you haven't seen in ages.

How Does The Race Work?

Below is a quick rundown but for full race details head to the Blue Dog Events' website and look for the EVENT INFO box.

*You can enter the race in either a team (minimum of 2, maximum of 5 riders per team) or as a solo rider racing completely on your own.

*The race offers two options - to either race for 10 or 6 hours. Whichever option you choose, both the 10 & 6 Hour riders all race on the same course at the same time.

*The 6 Hour races between 10am - 4pm and the 10 hour between 10am - 8pm.

*The course is an approx 11km loop course at McLean's Forest Park, Christchurch. It isn't a technical course so is suitable for beginner riders who have mastered basic mountain bike skills BUT you do need to feel confident riding amongst other riders.

*Each team and solo rider are allocated a team site to set up a tent/gazebo/campervan/vehicle etc on for the duration of the race.

*For teams this is a relay-type race. One rider at a time races and it's up to each team how many laps a rider does before changing over to another rider. Rider change over happens at your team site.

*The aim is to race as many laps as you can in either 10 or 6 Hours.

*Entry is via our online entry form (https://www.bluedogevents.nz/entry-form?event=1255) or if you're the organiser of several teams, email us at entry@bluedogevents.nz as we have some tips to help make the process easier.

As mentioned above this is just a quick rundown and if you need more info and can't find the answer on our website email entry@bluedogevents.nz and we'll get back to you.

Cheers from the team at Blue Dog Events.
