Learn how you can embark on the ultimate teaching adventure in 2023.

There’s an adventure out there – just waiting for you. An opportunity to travel and see the world – but continue to use your skills, get paid, and meet new colleagues from all over the world.

A chance to live in a different country, experience a new culture, and do something different. Teachers who go into international education are looking for a change, a challenge or a new life. They're looking for a break, an adventure, or a fresh start.

Something different, something inspiring or something new. Some say that international schools are the best-kept secret in education. And the market is expanding. Rapidly.

From their early beginnings many years ago to serve the needs of expatriate communities across the world, unwilling to leave their children in boarding schools, international schools now serve just as many local populations – providing an English language education for children who might someday want to study abroad.

International schools are the best-kept secret in education. They exist in almost every country in the world. Some are British in style and curriculum, others American, German or even Swiss.

A large number follow the curricula of the International Baccalaureate (IB) – designed in part at least to promote mobility and offer a seamless transition from one school to the next as families move across the globe.

They are in many ways very similar to a school at home: in primary teaching, all subjects in a single classroom setting – but often with specialist teachers for music, PE, foreign languages and art; and in secondary subject-specific specialists deliver the same (but sometimes wider) array of subjects you might expect to find at any school in the UK or Ireland.

And they need good teachers. Fully trained, qualified and experienced professionals prepared to give of their best during the day – and work hard.

Teachers with a spirit of adventure, who are interested in the cross-fertilization of ideas that comes teaching with colleagues from all over the world, or working in a culture that sees things from a different perspective.

Teachers who can help build a community and understand that learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door.

Teachers willing to coach or run an activity after school, and teachers who strive to meet the expectations of some pretty ambitious students.

Search Associates is the world’s largest provider of teachers to international schools. It works with over 700 schools worldwide and last year placed over 3000 teachers in jobs around the globe.
