Jared Savage is an award-winning investigative reporter at the New Zealand Herald.
Over ten years, Jared has developed a niche in reporting on organised crime, including the 2019 documentary, Fighting the Demon, which delved into New Zealand's ongoing methamphetamine crisis.
His latest book, Gangland (HarperCollins Publishers NZ, 2020), shines a light on New Zealand's rising underworld of organised crime and violent gangs.
Jared takes readers behind the headlines opening the door to an invisible world - a world where millions of dollars are made, life is cheap, and allegiances change like the flick of a switch.
Jared's feature writing has been published in two other books, the 2016 Wisden Almanack (the internationally acclaimed bible for cricket) and A Moral Truth: 150 years of investigative journalism in New Zealand.
He has written about education, health, politics, sport and crime and reporting on the natural disasters of the Christchurch earthquakes and the tsunami that devastated Samoa.
