Get ready for World Knit in Public day at Otago Museum this June, with a technical knitting workshop with the creator of Otago Museum’s incredible Anatomy Lessons exhibition with artist Michele Beevors.
Michele will be running a workshop on fur stitch, and will demonstrate polypropylene knitting with a project she has been working on. If you’re a fan of anatomy lessons, Michele will be sharing the pattern to create her incredible frogs for you to test your knitting skills and create for yourself.
Michele Beevors is an internationally recognised Australian artist. Beevors’ art practice focuses on large-scale knitted anatomies and thinking through the problematic histories of objects. Beevors is the principal lecturer in sculpture at Dunedin School of Art.
Don’t miss the chance to see her amazing exhibition Anatomy Lessons, this series of sculptures began in 2005, and for over 15 years she has been adding to the collection of knitted anatomy as a part of practice which includes large scale fibreglass and feminist works.
