Join the Friends of Wellington Botanic Garden for an introduction to the fascinating history of the Wellington Botanic Garden. In 1839 the New Zealand Company in London drew up plans for Wellington which included “a 13-acre reserve for public recreation”. Māori villages, with some of the best horticultural land, were in the area.
On this introductory, easy 75-minute walk, we can learn about heritage trees and buildings, and memorials to people.
Meet at the Founders’ Entrance, Glenmore St.
